Job Purpose
The Business Development Manager will lead and execute the company’s commercial strategy to drive revenue growth, expand market share, and enhance customer engagement. This role will oversee the marketing and sales functions, manage key accounts, and develop strategies to grow the business in line with the company's vision and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic sales and marketing plans to achieve company revenue and market growth targets.
Identify new market opportunities and lead the expansion into new customer segments and regions (including across the East African region).
Conduct market research to profile and identify target clients, emerging trends, and unmet needs within the industrial materials sector.
Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing sales and marketing team.
Drive customer acquisition and retention through value-based selling and superior customer service and retention.
Establish strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., operations, logistics, finance) to ensure seamless customer experience and service delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales/commercial roles, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity within the industrial materials or B2B distribution space.
Proven track record of driving revenue growth and managing large accounts.
Strong leadership, negotiation, market research and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
